As well as the already announced Bluesfest date, Jethro Tull will play shows in Sydney and Melbourne next April.

Ian Anderson formed Jethro Tull in Blackpool, UK in 1967. More than two dozen musicians, including at one stage Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, have been in the band.

Iommi was with Tull for a short time in 1968. He played guitar on The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus performance but is not heard on the live album because everything except for Ian Anderson’s vocal and flute was overdubbed later.

Phil Collins also once took the drummer’s seat for Tull for one show only – at the Prince’s Trust Gala in 1982.

The classic works of Jethro Tull were concentrated between 1970’s ‘Benefit’ album to 1972’s ‘Living In the Past’ with ‘Aqualung’ (1971) and ‘Thick As A Brick’ (1972) in the middle.

Jethro Tull dates are:

April 25, Byron Bay, Bluesfest April 26, Sydney, State Theatre

April 28, Melbourne, Palais Theatre
