Kung-Fu Kenny is back! Finally!
Kendrick Lamar has, at long last, announced his very, very highly-anticipated new album, “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers”, due for arrival on 13th of May. The rapper unveiled the news on both his Instagram and Twitter accounts in a letter under his moniker, Oklama, and shared on the letterhead for his company, pgLang.
“The following statement was released today by oklama through his company pgLang at 11 a.m. PT in Los Angeles CA: Album: ‘Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.’ Release date: 5/13/2022. All factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.”
A note at the bottom of the letter added: “Appreciate Your Patience.”
The official announcement of Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers arrives months after Lamar had given fans an update on the forthcoming album last August. In a note shared on his website, Oklama.com, K.Dot noted that the new record would be his last with longtime label, TDE: “ I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.”
At the time, though, Lamar didn’t provide any specific details about the LP. Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers will be coming in as Lamar’s fifth studio album and first in five years, following his last release, Damn, released in 2017.
