Pink Overtakes AC/DC Like A Runaway Train

Last week, AC/DC`s `Black Ice` became the fastest selling album in two years. One week later, they have already lost that crown as Pink `Funhouse` steams past `Black Ice` like a “runaway train”.

‘Funhouse’ sold 86,273 units last week. That was more than 50,000 more than `Black Ice` that dropped back to the still very decent figure of 33.087.

Last week, AC/DC’s figure was 83,855.

Both albums had early one day sales after stores broke embargo, but even still, adding in 8 day figures, Pink is still in front.

It was a big week for Pink. She also sold more than 200,000 concert tickets across Australia for her 2009 tour.

Breaking down albums sales by state, individual sales out of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia were still more than the number 5 album.

With digital sales, something AC/DC are opposed to, Pink would have earned herself a top 10 spot solely on downloads.

The real stars of the chart are Kings Of Leon. ‘Only By The Night’ sold a further 24,302 units last week after 7 weeks on the chart.

And let us not forget the quiet achiever Jason Mraz who has become part of the top 10 furniture this year and is still at no. 8 this week after 23 weeks on the chart.

Other albums debuting Top 10 this week were Bloc Party ‘Intimacy’ at no. 5 on 7.055 sales and Snow Patrol ‘A Hundred Million Suns’ at no. 7 on 5632 sales.
