Matchbox Twenty has the number one album in Australia this week. 'Exile On Mainstream', the band's hybrid greatest hits and new studio album, entered the Aussie chart with sales of 18,199 units.

MB20 are no strangers to the Australian charts. All three of their studio albums have hit number one. The debut 'Yourself Or Someone Like You' is certified 10 times platinum. Matchbox Twenty have sold more than 1.5 million albums in Australia and 28 million worldwide.

'Exile On Mainstream' features 11 of their biggest hits and 6 new songs.

The new songs were produced by Steve Lillywhite (Rolling Stones, U2). They are the first songs recorded by the band since the departure of guitarist Adam Gaynor. Gaynor's place has been taken by drummer Paul Doucette who has out down his sticks to step up to the front line of the band.

The first single from the album is 'How Far We've Come', a blistering attack on the incompetence of the Bush administration.
