Loverboy Record With Bob Rock

Loverboy are back together with producer Bob Rock.

The 80s rock band from Calgary, Alberta has been in the studio with the legendary producer and recorded two new songs ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘No Tomorrow’.

Bob Rock was the engineer on the first Loverboy album. That self-titled album delivered ‘Turn Me Loose’ which reached #3 in Australia and was a Top 10 hit in the USA.

Loverboy 2011 includes original members Mike Reno (vocals), Paul Dean (guitarist), Doug Johnson (keyboards) and Matt Frenette (drums).

The current bass player is Ken ‘Spider’ Sinnaeve who replaced founding member Scott Smith. Smith died in 2000 after being taken by a freak wave while sailing off the coast of San Francisco. He was 45.

Paul Dean says the new music has put the band back on track. “He phoned Mike and me out of the blue and told us he had a song that might work for us that he’d love to produce,” says Dean. “He sent it over and we just flipped out. It’s a great, kick-ass Loverboy song.

“It was just fantastic to be on the same page with everybody else in the band again. We had been through several false starts recording-wise over the years. Mike was really inspired this time. It was a great experience. I think these tracks are some of the best work we’ve ever done.”

For the members of Loverboy, they are back together for the long run. “My dream has always been to play guitar and entertain people,” he enthuses. “There’s no feeling like looking out in the audience and seeing them grinning ear to ear, everyone on the same wavelength. And once we start with the megahits, the place goes crazy. That’s why we do what we do and will continue.”

Loverboy are currently on tour in the USA.
