The former drummer, writer and vocalist of The Felice Brothers had to cancel his 2010 Australian tour to undergo sudden open-heart surgery after a childhood congenital defect brought him to the brink of death, and in a way his solo material has emanated from that experience, with his songs strikingly simple in their arrangements but extravagant in their emotional impact.
