THE ENGLISH BEAT (UK)
One of the earliest and most important ska revivalist groups, Birmingham's The English Beat formed in 1978 The band rode the British Invasion wave during the early 80s to popular success on both sides of the Atlantic. Singer and guitarist Dave Wakeling formed the band with members whose influences included ska, reggae, pop and punk, which they blended into The English Beat's unique and accessible sound.
